last Sunday of summer.

tonight our church had a praise and worship concert on the lawn of our pastor's home. it is really just a huge farm out in the country (their driveway is about a mile long). We had a rough weekend...yesterday's car accident (just me and I'm fine) and subsequent hospital visit, and today, when I went out to run the errands that I was trying to do yesterday (and then was hit), Emerson cried all afternoon for Ian. So, tonight, I took the boys by myself to the b.y.o.p. (picnic:) and concert so that Ian could have a quiet house for a little. I was able to grab these pics of Asher while Emerson was (not) sleeping in the ergo.

after a time of worship, they had a "children's intermission" where they called all kids to come forward to dance and sing silly songs. Asher headed up very excitedly and joined in even though he was the youngest by far.
the teenage girls leading this "intermission" then started taking requests. I had gone back to the blanket to check on Emerson who was (not) sleeping, when I heard Asher calling for me. He was trying to find me, saying, "I want to do Step by Step, mommy" (his favorite song by Rich Mullins). I yelled to him, "go tell them, honey!", "who do I tell?"....so I walked him back up and told the girls that he did have a request...and they sang his favorite song. It made his night. and mine.
